Texas A&M Society of Automotive Engineers

Texas A&M's Society of Automotive Engineers Chapter ( TAMU SAE), is a non-profit educational and scientific organization dedicated to advancing mobility technology to better serve humanity. The goal of our organization is to provide students with exposure and hands on experience that they will be able to apply in all aspects of their life.

Brief Description of Projects:

Formula SAE Internal Combustion (Formula IC) - Formula IC is a mechanical engineering capstone project where students design, build, and race a high-performance vehicle powered by an internal combustion engine. With a team of around 25 engineers, the project focuses on applying core engineering principles to create a competitive race car, preparing students for real-world challenges in automotive design and performance.

Baja SAE - Baja SAE is an engineering project team dedicated to designing and building a durable off-road vehicle capable of handling extreme terrain. Students work on mechanical design, materials, and vehicle dynamics, gaining hands-on experience while competing in challenging off-road events that test the limits of their vehicle’s performance and reliability.

Formula SAE Electric - Formula Electric is a capstone-eligible (Mechanical & Electrical Engineering) project team focused on designing and racing a high-performance electric Formula-style vehicle. The project emphasizes innovation in electric powertrains, aerodynamics, and vehicle dynamics, offering students hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology. The team applies their knowledge in electric vehicle and performance engineering to develop a product to compete against other universities.
